ESPN's projected 2014 polls
ESPN has "FLORIDA" projected to start 2014 ranked at #25. Is this fair to the other conferences? Florida finished 2013 @ (4- unranked and bowl ineligible, an OOC record that included a loss to a non BCS team of (1-3), beat only one team that finished above .500, and lost their last 7 games. Their first 3 games in 2014 are with Idaho who finished 2013 @ (1-11), East Michigan (2-10), and Kentucky (2-10). They then play Alabama in week #4, a week Tennessee team in week # 5, and LSU in week #6. Barring any upsets they will win their first 3 games and advance in the polls insuring that Alabama will be facing a ranked opponent in week #4. If Florida loses that game they will have lost to a top rank team and should not be hurt to bad in the polls. They more than likely will still be ranked when they face LSU in week #6. and credit will be given again to these teams for playing ranked opponents. Is this just B.S. that is designed to favor ESPN and the SEC conference and protect their own interests? Or is there another explanation for it?
